Evangelia Liakouli addresses PASOK anniversary and pensioner protests
Evangelia Liakouli, PASOK – Movement for Change MP and Justice, Institutions and Transparency spokesperson, has issued statements regarding political milestones and social issues in Greece.
Speaking at an event in Aigaleo commemorating the 45th anniversary of PASOK’s 1981 electoral victory, Liakouli emphasized the party’s historical role in implementing democratic reforms, including the establishment of the National Health System and free public education. She framed the current political climate as a crossroads, criticizing the status quo for undermining institutions and increasing social inequality.
Additionally, commenting on a Pan-Thessalian rally of pensioners in Larissa, Liakouli stated that the protests send a clear message against policies that diminish the quality of life and income of retirees. She criticized the rising cost of living and called for immediate measures, including the gradual restoration of the 13th pension and EKAS, pension increases, and reforms to the solidarity contribution. She also proposed a 120-installment regulation for debts to insurance funds to support the sustainability of the social security system.
