Evangelical Alliance in Germany marks 140‑year legacy, urges peacebuilding
The Evangelical Alliance in Germany (EAD) is commemorating two milestones this August: the 140th anniversary of the Bad Blankenburg Alliance Conference and the 180th anniversary of the World Evangelical Alliance founded in London in 1846. Chairman Reinhardt Schink issued a statement calling for “building bridges” and heightened peacebuilding efforts as the war in Ukraine continues.
Celebrations and a conference are scheduled for 5‑9 August in Bad Blankenburg, highlighting the movement’s historic opposition to slavery, its post‑World‑War‑II reconciliation work, and its ongoing advocacy for religious freedom and human rights. The EAD also notes its connection to the European Evangelical Alliance, created in 1952, which unites evangelical bodies across Europe.
