Evangeline Lilly reveals reasons for retiring from Hollywood
Actress Evangeline Lilly, known for her roles in ‘Lost’ and Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ franchise, has shared details regarding her departure from the entertainment industry. In a recent interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), Lilly clarified that while she publicly announced her retirement in 2024, she had actually made the decision to step away in 2020.
Lilly stated that she has always disliked fame, describing it as the “price” paid for the wealth an actor can achieve. She expressed that she prefers a quieter life and wishes to focus on creating her own stories through writing and other creative forms rather than being in front of the camera.
The actress admitted that leaving a successful career involved moments of “gripping fear” regarding the loss of influence, money, and public validation. She also noted that the transition helped alleviate massive chronic health issues caused by the stress and physical demands of her profession.
Before her acting career, Lilly studied political science and international relations. She expressed a long-standing desire to have a more hands-on impact on the world, noting her involvement in humanitarian work in Rwanda for over two decades.
