Evangelion Unit-01 statue returns to Yamaguchi Ube Airport

A statue of the Evangelion Unit-01 has been installed at the Yamaguchi Ube Airport domestic terminal in Ube City, Japan. This marks the second time the figure has been displayed at the airport, following a previous exhibition from July 2022 to January 2024.

The installation is intended to build momentum for the upcoming ‘Ube Machiju Evangelion 2026’ event, which is scheduled to run from October 29, 2025, to March 14, 2026. The statue, which depicts the character in a kneeling pose, stands approximately 3 meters tall, 3 meters wide, and 2.5 meters deep. It is located in the second-floor departure lobby.

Ube City is the birthplace of series director Hideaki Anno and is recognized as a sacred site for the franchise. The city holds annual events to celebrate the connection between the local area and the anime series.
