Evangelion screen prints debut in Japan, five‑panel series released July 17

A new five‑piece screen‑print series titled “EVANGELION 風神雷神図屏風” will be sold in Japan starting 17 July. The works reinterpret the National Treasure Fujin Raijin Zu by Tawaraya Sotatsu, overlaying the thunder‑god and wind‑god motifs with the iconic Eva units.

The five panels pair Unit‑01 with Shinji Ikari (thunder‑god), Unit‑00 with Rei Ayanami (wind‑god), Unit‑02 with Asuka Langley (wind‑god), Unit‑08 with Mari Illustrious (wind‑god) and Mark 06 with Kaworu Nagisa (wind‑god). Each piece is produced on traditional washi paper with wood‑frame backing, priced at ¥27,000 (tax‑excluded) per panel.

The series is part of the “Eva‑Japonism” project’s second wave and is available through the Bansan online shop “Ukiyoe 工房”. It aims to blend modern anime culture with historic Japanese art techniques, offering collectors a contemporary take on a centuries‑old masterpiece.
