Evangelos Apostolakis joins PASOK parliamentary group

Evangelos Apostolakis, an independent Member of Parliament and former Minister of National Defense, has officially joined the PASOK parliamentary group. Following a meeting with PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis, Apostolakis announced his decision to cooperate with the movement to work toward political change in Greece.

Apostolakis, a retired Admiral who previously served as Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, stated that his decision was not easy but that he is willing to ‘go against the wave’ to build a modern and strong Greece. He specifically noted his refusal to accept certain political ultimatums regarding his parliamentary seat.

Androulakis welcomed the former minister, noting that his expertise would contribute significantly to PASOK’s national defense policy. This move is part of a broader strategic effort by PASOK to expand its political reach within the center-left. In related political developments, Androulakis also addressed economic issues, criticizing the current government's handling of debt settlements and pension subsidies while emphasizing PASOK's goal to become the leading party in the upcoming elections.
