Evelyn Onyema, CEO of 44 Clothing, returns home after two-day disappearance

Evelyn Onyema, the chief executive of 44 Clothing, has safely returned home following a two-day disappearance in Lagos, Nigeria. Her whereabouts had become a matter of public concern after human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu raised an alarm regarding her last known location at Bonny Camp.

Onyema addressed the situation via social media, explaining that her disappearance was triggered by personal pressures and a confrontation with her boyfriend, Derrick. She stated that friction in their relationship had been building for a month, exacerbated by a blog post regarding their relationship. Onyema described being “severely triggered” and lacking means of communication during the period she was off the grid, noting she checked into a hotel to decompress before returning home.

While Onyema has resurfaced, human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu noted that an unidentified body found near Bonny Camp during the search has not yet been linked to her, and the identity of the deceased remains unknown.
