Eveready and Zepto launch battery recycling initiative in India

Eveready Industries India Ltd. and quick-commerce platform Zepto have launched ‘Batteries for Better’, India’s first doorstep household battery collection and recycling initiative. The program aims to facilitate responsible waste disposal by integrating battery collection into routine doorstep deliveries.

Under this model, Zepto users can select a ‘Return Battery’ option at checkout. Used household batteries can then be handed over to Zepto delivery partners during order deliveries. The collected batteries will be sent to Eveready for recycling through authorized channels in compliance with environmental regulations and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) guidelines.

The initiative is initially rolling out in Delhi and Bengaluru, utilizing Zepto’s last-mile delivery network. The companies intend to expand the program to additional cities across India to increase accessibility to sustainable waste disposal practices.
