Everest Metals secures European links for Mt Edon project
Everest Metals has expanded the international profile of its Mt Edon critical minerals project in Western Australia by joining the European Union’s Raw Materials Mechanism. Established under the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act, this mechanism connects international suppliers of strategic materials with European buyers, financial institutions, and stockpiling providers to support the energy, digital, and defense industries.
While the mechanism does not guarantee funding or offtake agreements, it provides a platform for the company to engage with prospective European customers and investors. Additionally, the Mt Edon project has been selected as the Australian representative for the five-year, German-funded GeoSpex (Geo Spectral Exploration) program. One of only five sites chosen globally, the project will collaborate with Germany’s GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences.
Through this collaboration, Everest Metals will utilize advanced exploration technologies, including EnMAP hyperspectral satellite data and multi-scale imaging spectroscopy, combined with machine learning to better identify and characterize critical-mineral deposits such as rubidium, lithium, caesium, and tantalum.
