Everland baby panda naming contest reaches 100,000 participants

Everland, operated by Samsung C&T Resort Division, announced that over 100,000 people participated in a naming contest for its newest baby panda within just six days of its launch on August 18.

The contest features five finalists selected from approximately 10,000 public suggestions by a naming committee composed of zookeepers, veterinarians, and staff. Following the family tradition of using the character ‘Bao’ (宝), the candidates are:

• Jubao (Jewel/Treasure) • Junbao (Outstanding Treasure) • Linbao (Beautiful Jade Treasure) • Yubao (Protected/Blessed Treasure) • Shubao (Dawn Light Treasure)

Voting is being conducted both online via the Everland app and offline at Panda World. The final name will be announced in September to coincide with the baby panda reaching its 100-day milestone. The baby panda, born on June 3, is the fourth female giant panda born in South Korea, following Fubao and the twins Rui Bao and Hui Bao.
