Everland launches public vote to name new baby panda

Everland, operated by Samsung C&T Resort Division, has launched a public voting event to name its newest baby panda. The voting period runs from August 18 to August 30 and is available both online via the Everland app and in person at Panda World.

Following an initial open call that received over 10,000 suggestions, a naming committee composed of keepers and veterinarians selected five final candidates. All candidates follow the family naming tradition of using 'Bao' (宝). The finalists are Jubao, Junbao, Linbao, Yubao, and Shubao. The winning name will be officially announced in September to coincide with the panda reaching 100 days of age.

The baby panda, born on June 3, is the fourth giant panda born in South Korea. It has shown healthy growth, with its weight increasing from 171g at birth to approximately 3.7kg. To encourage participation, Everland is offering prizes to 21 lucky voters, including trips to a panda base in China and exclusive merchandise. The Chinese Embassy in South Korea is also participating in the voting event through its social media channels.
