Evernorth secures $80 million equity facility to support XRP strategy
Evernorth (Nasdaq: XRPN) has established an equity facility of approximately $80 million through a common stock purchase agreement with CF Principal Investments LLC, an affiliate of Cantor Fitzgerald. The company intends to use a portion of these proceeds for general corporate purposes, which may include the acquisition of XRP and the development of products within the XRP ecosystem.
Evernorth currently holds over 473 million XRP in its treasury. CEO Ashish Birla stated that the company aims to generate yield from these holdings through financial investments and blockchain-based services, such as lending and decentralized finance (DeFi), rather than simply holding the tokens. The company is currently evaluating risks and seeking partners to ensure the safe utilization of its assets.
To manage these initiatives, Evernorth has appointed Hugo, a former Coinbase asset management professional, as Chief Investment Officer. The firm is also monitoring developments in tokenization and the integration of traditional financial assets like stocks and bonds onto the blockchain.
