Everpure report highlights critical enterprise data sovereignty risks
A recent report from Everpure reveals a significant “sovereignty gap” within global enterprises. According to a survey of 2,100 C-suite and IT leaders across several countries, 88% of executives believe a failure in data sovereignty could result in job loss, and 91% fear potential financial and reputational damage.
Despite these concerns, 64% of organizations currently operate without a formal data sovereignty strategy, and 62% lack visibility regarding who can access and manage their data. Everpure executives noted that many leaders are focusing on cybersecurity as the primary driver, while underestimating risks such as service disruptions caused by political uncertainty.
To address these challenges, Everpure advocates for a “sovereignty by design” approach. This involves moving toward “data primacy,” an architecture where information is separated from specific applications or AI models to create a governed, model-independent system of record. This strategy aims to make data discoverable and self-describing, ensuring organizations maintain control and flexibility regardless of the AI models or cloud platforms they utilize.
