Everton target £17m signing as midfielder Idrissa Gueye departs
Everton have been given a clear price for Australian winger Nestory Irankunda, with Portuguese side Sporting CP reportedly offering €15 million upfront plus €5 million in add‑ons – roughly £17 million – for the 20‑year‑old who scored four and assisted four for Watford last season and featured for Australia at the World Cup. The club can now decide whether to match or exceed that bid in order to secure the player, who would add pace to the Toffees’ attack.
At the same time, Everton’s midfield is in flux. Senegal international Idrissa Gueye’s contract expired during the World Cup and the club confirmed his departure, ending a 236‑match spell. Additionally, James Garner is recovering from a minor groin surgery, limiting his pre‑season involvement. The changes heighten the need for a new central midfielder as Everton look to rebuild the midfield core for the upcoming season.
