EverWind to invest $10B in Nova Scotia data centre and wind power

EverWind has announced a plan to invest more than $10 billion in Nova Scotia, focusing on a new data centre campus and wind power generation. The investment includes $8 billion for the development, construction, and financing of a data centre campus at the existing Point Tupper industrial site, and $2 billion to advance the company’s onshore wind portfolio.

The data centre campus is expected to begin with an initial 95-megawatt phase in late 2027, followed by a 325 MW expansion in 2028. EverWind has reportedly secured a long-term lease agreement with a frontier AI developer for the first phase. The wind power portion of the investment will support four specific projects: Bear Lake, Windy Ridge, Kmtnuk, and Upper Afton.

The project is expected to create approximately 2,000 construction jobs and 215 permanent operating positions. Following the announcement, EverWind joined other partners as a signatory to the Government of Canada’s Responsible Data Centre Development Principles.
