Everybody Loves Raymond celebrates 30th anniversary

The sitcom ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ marks its 30th anniversary following its original premiere on CBS on September 13, 1996. The series, which ran for nine seasons and 210 episodes until 2005, centered on the Barone family living on Long Island.

Starring Ray Romano as sports writer Ray Barone, the show explored relatable family dynamics and marital friction involving his wife Debra (Patricia Heaton), his brother Robert (Brad Garrett), and his parents Marie (Doris Roberts) and Frank (Peter Boyle).

Creator Phil Rosenthal noted that while the show initially faced challenges airing in a low-viewership Friday night time slot, it eventually found major success after moving to a Monday schedule. Over its run, the series earned 69 Emmy nominations and won 15 awards, including two for Outstanding Comedy Series.
