Evil Dead Burn to receive a more graphic director’s cut after near NC‑17 rating

Director Sébastien Vaniček confirmed that the upcoming horror film Evil Dead Burn was trimmed to secure an R rating after a violent scene pushed it close to an NC‑17 rating. He said the cut scene was “really, really hard” and will be restored in a later, more extreme director’s cut intended for home‑cinema release.

The film, scheduled to debut in theaters on July 10 2026, follows a grieving woman whose family gathering turns into a supernatural nightmare. Early projections estimate a domestic opening of $20‑30 million and a total run of $45‑75 million, following the success of 2023’s Evil Dead Rise. The director’s cut is expected to be significantly more brutal than the theatrical version.
