Evil Dead franchise expands with 1972 prequel 'Wrath' and highlights 2023 horror hit 'Rise

The Evil Dead franchise announced that its new prequel, Evil Dead Wrath, has finished production. Directed by Francis Gallupp and set in 1972, the film will emulate the look of that era and stars Charlotte Hope, Jessica McNamee, Zach Gilford and Josh Helman, among others. Producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are back on board, with Bruce Campbell and Lee Cronin serving as executive producers. The theatrical release is scheduled for 7 April 2028.

The franchise’s recent theatrical entry, Evil Dead Rise, premiered in the United States on 21 April 2023 and in France on 19 April 2023. Directed by Lee Cronin, the film follows two sisters trapped in a Los Angeles high‑rise where the ancient Necronomicon unleashes a blood‑soaked demonic assault. The cast includes Lily Sullivan, Alyssa Sutherland, Morgan Davies and Gabrielle Echols. The movie has been noted for its intense gore and claustrophobic atmosphere, earning a 6.5/10 rating on IMDb. Streaming links and Blu‑Ray/DVD releases are now available in several regions.
