Evil Dead franchise shifts beyond Ash with upcoming Evil Dead Burn

Bruce Campbell says the iconic character Ash Williams will no longer be central to the Evil Dead franchise, noting, “He’s not part of any big overriding story or scheme.”

The change follows the commercial success of 2023’s Evil Dead Rise, which earned $147 million worldwide and proved the series can thrive without its original lead.

The next installment, Evil Dead Burn, directed by Sébastien Vaniček, is scheduled for theatrical release on July 10 2027, with Evil Dead Wrath slated for April 7 2028, signaling a move toward standalone stories and new characters.
