Evin Prison denies family visits to at least 23 female inmates

At least 23 female prisoners at Evin Prison have been deprived of family visits for periods ranging from three to nine weeks. According to reports from HRANA, these restrictions were implemented following prisoner protests regarding ward conditions, staff behavior, and administrative decisions.

Specific individuals, including Golrokh Iraei and Sakineh Parvaneh, have faced nine-week bans, while others have been restricted for up to seven weeks. Reported reasons for these measures include protests against staff misconduct during transfers to medical or judicial centers, the reduction of visit times to less than thirty minutes, the installation of cameras in restroom areas, and unauthorized entries by security personnel into the wards.

Additionally, some inmates have faced restrictions on telephone access and the receipt of personal items such as books. Certain prisoners were also reportedly moved to solitary confinement following protests.
