Evin Prison Guard Raid Injures Three Political Detainees
On Saturday, 10 Mordad 1405 (1 August 2026), guard forces at Tehran’s Evin Prison entered block 7 and violently assaulted three political prisoners—Amirhossein Moradi, Ehsan Rostami and Afshin Rangriz. The guards beat the men, tore their clothing and then moved them to an undisclosed location. No official reason for the transfer has been given, and prison officials, including deputy health officer Yousefi and guard chief Fathali, were present during the incident.
The three detainees, all convicted on security‑related charges, suffered injuries that have raised concerns among their families and fellow inmates. Following the raid, prisoners in block 7 staged a protest demanding information about the whereabouts and health of the transferred men. Human‑rights groups have called for an independent investigation into the assault and the lack of transparency from prison authorities.
