Albania appoints Klodiana Spahiu as Health Minister following Evis Sala's resignation

Evis Sala has resigned from her position as Albania's Minister of Health and Social Welfare. Sala stated her departure is due to new international professional commitments in the fields of oncology, artificial intelligence, and innovation. During her one-year tenure, she highlighted achievements in oncology reform, including the establishment of the National Oncology Institute and expanded access to anti-tumor drugs.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced the appointment of Klodiana Spahiu as the new Minister of Health. Spahiu, a medical doctor specializing in cardiology with extensive experience in health management and pedagogy, previously served as a deputy for Durrës. She has expressed her commitment to continuing the government's health sector objectives and thanked both the Prime Minister and her predecessor.

In a separate political development, Prime Minister Rama addressed the Socialist Party parliamentary group, emphasizing the need for merit-based recruitment in public administration. He proposed that any attempt by deputies to influence hiring through personal connections or phone calls should be considered a criminal offense to ensure equality and transparency in the state system.
