EVNHANOI recommends rooftop solar to reduce electricity costs

The Hanoi Electricity Power Corporation (EVNHANOI) is recommending that households and businesses adopt self-produced, self-consumed rooftop solar power to increase energy autonomy and reduce costs. By utilizing solar panels installed on roofs or protective surfaces, users can prioritize direct consumption for their own equipment, thereby reducing the amount of electricity purchased from the national grid.

EVNHANOI suggests that effective implementation depends on matching system capacity with actual electricity usage rather than simply installing the largest possible system. For households and businesses with high daytime electricity demands, this model can reduce monthly electricity bills by approximately 30% to 70%, depending on the system scale and level of self-consumption.

To optimize investment, the corporation advises customers to review their electricity consumption data from the past 6 to 12 months to determine appropriate capacity. In Hanoi, south, southeast, and southwest-facing roofs are identified as having the most favorable conditions for solar radiation exploitation.
