EVNNPC launches first battery energy storage system in Ninh Binh

Northern Vietnam Power Corporation (EVNNPC) has officially commissioned the first Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Ninh Binh province. The system, located at the Phuc Son 110 kV substation, has a capacity of 5 MW and a storage capacity of 10 MWh.

This project is part of an initial phase of investment in energy storage systems across the power grid managed by EVNNPC. Under a plan assigned by Vietnam Electricity (EVN), EVNNPC intends to deploy BESS with a total scale of 305 MW/610 MWh across 47 substations in eight provinces.

In Hue, scheduled power outages were reported for August 21 and 22, 2026, due to transformer replacements, periodic testing, and maintenance work across various wards and communes, including Huong An, Phu Bai, Thuan Hoa, and Chan May - Lang Co.
