EVNNPT appoints new Chairman following corruption probe

The National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) has announced a leadership restructuring following a major corruption investigation. Nguyen Quang Trung, formerly Deputy General Director of EVNHANOI, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Members of EVNNPT, effective August 10, 2026. Additionally, Hoang Xuan Khoi, Deputy General Director of EVNNPT, has been assigned the role of Acting General Director.

This reorganization follows an investigation by the Ministry of Public Security into violations related to the 500kV circuit 3 line project. Authorities have prosecuted 47 defendants across 13 companies, including EVNNPT and PC1 Group, on charges including bidding violations, accounting irregularities, embezzlement, and bribery. The investigation revealed significant misconduct by both the investor and contractors during the project's estimation, bidding, and settlement phases.
