Evo Morales and Cochabamba Governor Loza charged over road blockades in Bolivia

Bolivian regional legislator Joel Flores of APB‑Súmate lodged a criminal complaint with the Cochabamba Fiscalía, naming former President Evo Morales, Governor Leonardo Loza and several local leaders, including former governor official Nelson Vizeira Meneses, Vicente Choque and Feliciano Vegamonte. The filing cites five offenses – public incitement to crime, criminal association, attacks on transport security, attacks on public services and violations of public health law – alleging they organized and financed road blockades across Cochabamba.

The blockades have halted major transport routes, triggered shortages of food and fuel, raised household‑goods prices and caused hardship for drivers, merchants, patients and the elderly. Flores urged the Ministry of Public Prosecutor to evaluate the evidence and proceed with formal charges. The accused have not publicly responded.

The complaint reflects escalating political tension in Bolivia, where protest groups demanding the resignation of President Rodrigo Paz have intensified pressure on authorities through these disruptions.
