Evo Morales supporters build surveillance posts in Bolivia's Chapare
The Federación Única de Centrales Unidas del Trópico de Cochabamba has begun constructing permanent wooden surveillance posts in the Chapare region. These structures are intended to protect former President Evo Morales and secure the Radio Kawsachun Coca facilities.
Union leaders, including federation executive Isidro Auca, stated the move is a response to alleged political persecution and threats against Morales' life. The decision follows claims by the Six Federations of the Cochabamba Tropico regarding the infiltration of the area by police, F10 military intelligence, and DEA agents disguised as civilians.
In response to these allegations, the sector has declared an emergency, ordered increased road vigils, and instructed coordinated controls with local mayors. Deputy Lissa Claros of the Alianza Libre has called for state intervention in the region, arguing that citizens in the Chapare are being threatened and coerced.
