Evros police arrest two smugglers transporting 16 migrants

Police in the Evros region of Greece have arrested two smugglers for the illegal transport of 16 migrants.

In the first incident on the Egnatia road between Alexandroupoli and Komotini, a Greek driver without a valid license attempted to evade police by speeding. The pursuit ended after the vehicle struck roadside protective barriers. The driver was found to be transporting seven undocumented migrants.

In a second incident near Alexandroupoli, a foreign national was arrested while driving a vehicle containing nine undocumented migrants. Authorities seized vehicles and mobile phones during the operation. The suspects are being processed by the Soufli and Feres Border Guard units and will appear before the Alexandroupoli Prosecutor.
