Evros reconstruction plan expands to nearly 3 billion euros

The reconstruction and development plan for the Evros region has expanded, with the total developmental footprint now exceeding 2.96 billion euros for the 2021-2030 period. Kostas Katsafados, Deputy Minister for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection and President of the Evros Reconstruction Committee, clarified that the plan is being implemented in full and has not been sidelined.

The expanded budget includes 2.5 billion euros for the Local Development Plan of Evros, covering various government-led projects and incentives. Additionally, 309 million euros are allocated to the 'EVROS-META' Integrated Spatial Investment program of the East Macedonia and Thrace Region, which has seen an increase from its original 180 million euro baseline.

Other funding allocations include 90 million euros for support and recovery schemes such as 'New Forest' and 'Evros Pass', and 60 million euros for special policy measures regarding housing, family, employment, and education. The plan is structured around three axes, focusing on large-scale infrastructure such as railways, ports, natural gas, and road networks.
