Ex convento delle Lauretane: 9.2 million euro recovery project

A tender has been launched for the consolidation and recovery of the ex convento delle Lauretane in L'Aquila. The project is one of the most significant public reconstruction efforts in the city's historic center.

The tender, initiated by the Municipality's central purchasing office, has a base amount of 9.2 million euros as part of a total investment of 13.1 million euros. Funding is provided through post-earthquake reconstruction resources.

The historic building, which served as public offices until 2009, was rendered unusable due to heavy damage from an earthquake. The recovery project includes structural consolidation, restoration of decorated surfaces, and the upgrading of mechanical, hydraulic, sanitary, fire prevention, and electrical systems. Additionally, part of the more recent building structure will be demolished to better integrate the site into the urban context. The goal is to transform the building into a co-working hub to bring economic activity and new opportunities back to the heart of the historic center.
