Ex-mayor of San Nicolás Buenos Aires re-arrested in Mexico

Ramiro N., the former municipal president of San Nicolás Buenos Aires in Puebla, Mexico, was re-arrested minutes after being released from the Tepexi de Rodríguez medium-security prison.

A federal court had previously granted an injunction in his favor, overturning a previous ruling regarding charges of failure to fulfill a legal duty and document falsification. While a control judge issued a non-binding order for those specific charges, allowing his release, agents from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) immediately executed a new arrest warrant. This new warrant is for the crime of abuse of authority. The former official remains in judicial custody pending a new hearing to determine his legal status.
