Ex-É o Tchan Dancer Edson Cardoso Starts Property Restoration Career in Canada
Edson Cardoso, known on stage as Jacaré and famous for his work with Brazil’s pop group É o Tchan, has built a new professional life in Canada. After moving to Vancouver in 2016, he now works for a restoration company that repairs homes damaged by floods, fires and other incidents. As a supervisor, he oversees the removal and replacement of contents such as furniture and clothing after insurance claims are filed.
Cardoso also takes occasional roles in local TV productions and assists with advertising for a consultancy that helps Brazilian families immigrate to Canada, a business in which his wife, Gabriela Mesquita, serves as a consultant. The couple obtained permanent residency in 2023, cementing their long‑term stay abroad.
The former dancer says the shift away from the Brazilian entertainment scene was driven by the need for a stable “Plan B” for his family, and he now balances his work in the restoration sector with limited acting work and family life.
