Exail secures major contract for naval drone navigation systems

Exail has been selected by a leading navy to provide inertial navigation systems (INS) from its Marins range to equip a fleet of uncrewed surface vessels (USVs). The contract, valued at several tens of millions of euros, is among the largest navigation system orders in the company’s history.

The Marins systems are designed to provide precise position, heading, attitude, and velocity data, specifically addressing the need for reliable navigation in contested environments where GPS or GNSS signals may be jammed, spoofed, or otherwise degraded. This technology supports the growing trend of navies integrating autonomous platforms alongside crewed vessels to extend operational reach and reduce human exposure.

Separately, Exail is supplying a nine-meter USV to the US Navy’s Office of Naval Research for counter-drone research. This vessel will be integrated with counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) payloads. Additionally, the company plans to demonstrate the endurance of another USV to the US Coast Guard, which has recently invested hundreds of millions of dollars into autonomous capabilities.
