Examination pass rates decline in Cameroon and Madagascar
Educational examination results for 2026 show significant declines in pass rates across different regions.
In Cameroon, the Higher Institute of Professional Education (BTS) results published by MINESUP indicate a sharp drop in success. Out of 15,623 candidates, only 2,216 passed, resulting in a national success rate of 14.19%. This represents a major decrease from the 40.48% success rate recorded in 2025. Regional data shows the Littoral region had a 14.27% success rate, while the Adamaoua region recorded approximately 10%.
In the Mahajanga province of Madagascar, the baccalauréat pass rate fell to 47.92%, with 12,602 candidates passing out of 26,300 enrolled. This is an 11.85 percentage point decrease compared to the 59.77% success rate in 2025. While general education saw a 46.31% success rate, technical education performed higher at 83.87%.
