Ex‑banker Daniel Vorcaro sought to silence journalist Malu Gaspar

Federal Police recovered messages in which former Banco Master owner Daniel Vorcaro directed publicist Thiago Miranda to dig into the personal life of O Globo columnist Malu Gaspar. The chats, dated March‑April 2025, include Vorcaro’s repeated command to "silence this woman" and discussions about finding financial, family and vehicle information, as well as offering a lucrative contract to impede her reporting on alleged fraud at Banco Master. Miranda relayed details such as income, bank transactions and even the lack of traffic violations, while Vorcaro contemplated a million‑real proposal to hire the journalist. The messages surfaced amid the bank’s financial collapse that led the Central Bank to order its extrajudicial liquidation in November 2025. O Globo denounced the communications as an intimidation attempt and said it will monitor the investigation.

The revelations highlight a coordinated effort to pressure the press through illegal data‑collection and threats, prompting a criminal inquiry into Vorcaro and his associates.
