Exercise and Healthy Diet Lower Cancer Risk and Chronic Disease

Regular physical activity is linked to reduced risk of numerous chronic conditions, including type‑2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, depression, urinary incontinence and several cancers. The World Health Organization recommends adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate‑intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous‑intensity exercise each week. Studies show active people live 0.4–4.2 years longer on average.

A recent study published in Applied Physiology, Nutrition and Metabolism confirms that a diet low in saturated fat and rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and probiotic foods further cuts cancer risk. High‑fat diets typical of many developed nations are associated with higher cancer rates, while active individuals tolerate chemotherapy and radiation better and enjoy longer post‑treatment survival. Together, exercise and a healthy diet form a powerful preventive strategy against cancer and other lifestyle‑related diseases.
