Exeter City secured a 2‑0 victory over National League South side Weston‑Super‑Mare in a pre‑season friendly. Sonny Cox opened the scoring in the first half, heading home a cross from Ed James, and newcomer Josh Gordon added a second from a Tom Dean delivery.

Manager Matt Taylor said the team showed improved structure, shape and intent compared with a 1‑0 loss to Truro City the previous week. He praised the cohesion of the side and highlighted areas still needing work ahead of the upcoming League Two campaign. Gordon described his goal as a sign the training work was paying off and expressed confidence the squad were hitting their stride.
