Exeter pub reopens as The Engine House after £542,000 revamp

The historic Angel pub on Queen Street in Exeter is reopening as The Engine House following a £542,000 refurbishment. Owned by Heineken-owned Star Pubs, the venue has been closed for two years.

The overhaul includes a complete redecoration of the exterior and an interior redesign featuring exposed brickwork, new furniture, vintage murals, and a new sound system. The establishment will focus on drinks, offering cocktails and premium lagers, rather than food. The venue is set to create six new jobs and will host events such as live music, open-mic nights, and sporting tournament screenings.
