EXIM BANK of Thailand promotes sustainable finance to boost global competitiveness

Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM BANK) is positioning itself as a ‘Financial Catalyst’ to help Thai businesses navigate evolving global trade regulations. During the Climate & Sustainability Capital Forum (CSCAP 2026), Managing Director Chalat Rattanaboonnithi emphasized that sustainability has transitioned from a corporate responsibility issue to a ‘new rule of doing business’ that directly impacts global competitiveness.

To support exporters and SMEs in meeting international standards regarding carbon reduction, environmental transparency, and supply chain traceability, EXIM BANK is expanding its role beyond traditional lending. The bank aims to provide technology support, risk management, and facilitate commercial sustainable investments.

Currently, ESG-related products account for approximately 50% of EXIM BANK’s total loan portfolio. This includes 42% in Green Finance, 6% in the Blue Economy, and 2% in Social Finance. The bank also intends to support market infrastructure, such as carbon markets, to link measurable environmental outcomes with economic value.
