Exit 8 film to be released on Blu-ray and DVD in October 2026

The horror-mystery thriller film “Exit 8,” based on the popular 2023 indie video game, is scheduled for home media release on October 22, 2026. Plaion Pictures will offer the film on Blu-ray, DVD, and as a special mediabook containing a booklet and exclusive extras.

Directed by Genki Kawamura, the film follows a young man trapped in a seemingly endless Tokyo subway station. To reach Exit 8, the protagonist must navigate repetitive corridors and identify surreal anomalies. The unedited theatrical cut has a runtime of 95 minutes. The Blu-ray release will include both German and Japanese audio tracks in DTS-HD MA 5.1.

The original game, developed by the Japanese one-man indie studio Kotake Create using Unreal Engine 5, gained significant popularity for its use of “liminal spaces” and its minimalist, high-tension gameplay. The film aims to capture the same atmosphere of the walking simulation that has received highly positive reviews from players.
