EXIT Festival withdraws from music festival in occupied Kyrenia

The Serbian company EXIT has decided to withdraw from hosting its music festival in the occupied city of Kyrenia, Cyprus. Government sources indicate that this decision followed systematic and discreet diplomatic mobilization by the Republic of Cyprus to prevent an international event from being used for political purposes by the occupying administration.

European Parliament Member Loukas Fourlas described the company’s decision as “responsible and correct,” noting that EXIT recognized the deep historical and emotional significance of Kyrenia and its castle to the Cypriot people. Fourlas highlighted that coordinated efforts were made toward both the Serbian political leadership and the company itself to convey the seriousness of the issue.

Following these communications, representatives from the EXIT company expressed interest in exploring the possibility of relocating the event to the free areas of the Republic of Cyprus. The development is being viewed as a positive sign for the friendship and understanding between the people of Cyprus and Serbia.
