Ex‑Mayor Ronald García Reyes Killed in Road Accident in Zacatecas

Ronald García Reyes, 38, the former mayor of Villa González Ortega, Zacatecas, died early Wednesday after his pickup truck lost control on state road 144 between Villa González Ortega and Noria de Ángeles. The vehicle struck a post, rolled over, and García Reyes was trapped inside the wreckage. Emergency responders from the municipality of General Pánfilo Natera rescued his body and transferred it to the forensic medical service. Police investigators opened a case to determine the cause of the crash.

García Reyes, a lawyer with studies in economics and business administration, led the town’s administration from 2021 to 2024 under the banner of the National Action Party (PAN) and later was linked to the Movimiento Ciudadano party. Local officials, including the current municipal president María Magdalena Alvarado García, expressed condolences and highlighted his involvement in regional public affairs.
