Expedia Group acquires Tiqets and AI travel planner Layla

Expedia Group announced it will acquire Tiqets, a Dutch online booking platform for museums, attractions and experiences that operates in more than 60 countries. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, subject to board approval and standard closing conditions. "The integration of Tiqets is an important step toward our vision of the most comprehensive global travel solution," said Alfonso Paredes, President of B2B at Expedia Group.

In a separate deal, Expedia confirmed the purchase of Berlin‑based AI travel‑planning startup Layla. The company, founded by Saad Saeed and employing about 25 people, provides AI‑driven itinerary creation and live‑price booking for flights and hotels. No purchase price was disclosed. Layla’s investors include Firstminute Capital, United Airlines Ventures and Baidu Capital. Both acquisitions are intended to expand Expedia’s portfolio of travel activities and enhance its B2B and consumer offerings worldwide.
