Expedia Group has released its annual report, ‘Unpack ’27: The Trends in Travel’, forecasting the top travel destinations for 2027. The analysis is based on social media trends, platform data from Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo, and surveys conducted among 26,000 travelers.

The report highlights a growing desire among travelers to avoid crowds in favor of locations offering natural beauty, rich culture, and local gastronomy. Key destinations identified for 2027 include South Lake Tahoe, California; Kyoto, Japan; Punta del Este, Uruguay; Sedona, Arizona; Busan, South Korea; Holbox, Mexico; Perugia, Italy; Tweed, New South Wales, Australia; Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada; and Chichester, United Kingdom.

Expedia Group CEO Arian Gorin noted that the report reveals the destinations and experiences shaping travel memories. The report also observes a rise in interest for shorter, one-to-two-day trips. Additionally, six of the top ten destinations have earned the ‘Smart Travel Health Check’ badge, recognizing their commitment to sustainable tourism that protects local populations while providing immersive cultural experiences.
