Experimental drug survodutida cuts liver fat by up to 70% in phase‑3 trial

A phase‑3 clinical trial of the experimental drug survodutida, conducted in the United States and Spain, enrolled 216 obese participants with excess liver fat. Participants received weekly subcutaneous injections of 6 mg survodutida for 48 weeks. 84.2% of those treated achieved at least a 30% reduction in hepatic fat fraction, 75.3% saw a reduction of 50% or more, and 55.5% experienced a 70% or greater drop.

Researchers also reported improvements in cardiovascular risk factors among the survodutida group. The study authors emphasized that the follow‑up period was relatively short and called for longer‑term investigations in more diverse populations before the drug can be considered for widespread clinical use.
