Expert report cites negligence in İzmir hotel pool incident
An expert report has identified a chain of negligence regarding an incident in the Menderes district of İzmir, where a six-year-old child, E. N. K., nearly drowned in an adult swimming pool at a hotel on August 22.
The report, prepared following a complaint by the child's family, states that the hotel failed to conduct necessary inspections of its pools and facilities, failed to identify risks, and did not implement required safety measures. Specifically, no warning signs were found to prevent children from entering the adult pool.
Investigators identified several parties as technically responsible. The hotel's lifeguard, B. G., failed to monitor and control access to the adult pool. The employer, A. İ., was cited for failing to organize work properly and neglecting oversight of lifeguards. The child's mother was also noted as a technical factor due to a lack of necessary supervision. The child remains in intensive care with a serious medical condition.
