Experts Advise Against Summer Circumcision for Young Children in Turkey

Medical specialists say circumcision can be performed at any age, but recommend delaying the procedure for boys aged 2‑6 because of potential psychological impact. Dr. Ali İhsan Anadolulu of Central Hospital advises that, when medically possible, newborn circumcision is safest.

Summer can offer practical benefits, such as school holidays allowing more rest for recovery, yet the heat increases sweating and risks for wound care. Parents are urged to follow post‑operative instructions: keep the area clean and dry, dress the child in loose cotton clothing, avoid swimming, and refrain from activities that pressure the site. Warning signs like heavy bleeding, foul discharge, high fever, or swelling should prompt immediate medical attention.
