Experts issue guidance for school reopening and stationery safety
As schools reopen, experts are issuing guidance to parents regarding child psychology and consumer safety. Psychologist Tülinay Seçkin from Memorial Diyarbakır Hospital advises families to help children manage anxiety by establishing consistent routines for sleep and meals before the term begins. She suggests that parents use validating language, such as acknowledging a child's worries, rather than dismissing them, and recommends visiting the school and meeting teachers beforehand to build confidence.
In terms of physical supplies, Professor Hamdi Temel from Yozgat Bozok University warns parents to be cautious when purchasing stationery. He advises checking labels carefully and avoiding unbranded or ‘underground’ products that lack proper certification. Specifically, he notes that scented products may pose risks to younger children. Parents are encouraged to look for official safety marks such as CE, TSE, and EN to ensure product quality and safety.
