Global AI sentiment varies as US anxiety hits 74%

A Gallup poll commissioned by Microsoft reveals significant global disparities in how people perceive artificial intelligence. In the United States, public anxiety is high, with 74% of the general population reporting feelings of concern regarding the technology, and only 36% expecting it to primarily benefit the country.

Western nations show similar trends of apprehension. In Canada, while 29% of respondents use AI daily, over half expressed concern about its impact, with 64% of those aware of the technology reporting worry. This skepticism often coincides with broader fears regarding mass layoffs in the tech sector and potential job displacement.

In contrast, sentiment in China is notably more optimistic. Approximately 35% of the population reports daily AI usage, and a vast majority expects the technology to benefit the nation.
