Experts warn of health risks linked to hyperproductivity

Experts are warning about the negative impacts of hyperproductivity and the inability to rest. Sociologist Carmen Domínguez notes that an obsession with optimizing time can harm physical and mental health, leading to chronic stress, mental fatigue, and irritability. She suggests that people often continue working despite exhaustion due to economic fears or a normalized view that associates constant busyness with success.

Psychologists highlight that the inability to remain idle often stems from a need for control, utility, or recognition. Isabel Aranda, from the Official College of Psychology of Madrid, explains that many individuals link their personal worth to their level of activity, making stillness feel uncomfortable. To combat these effects, specialists recommend digital disconnection, respecting short breaks, reducing multitasking, and prioritizing restorative rest to improve both well-being and long-term productivity.
